EL-P + KILLER MIKE = RUN THE JEWELS

El-P and Killer Mike, two of the most distinctive and celebrated names in rap, might have seemed like an unlikely pairing on paper, but the duo subverted and pulverized all expectations with their critically lauded Run The Jewels collaborative LP last year. Tapping into the creative synergy they’d discovered in 2012 on Mike’s R.A.P. Music album (produced by El-P) and El’s Cancer 4 Cure album (featuring Mike), Run The Jewels cemented their musical alliance with a set of uncompromisingly raw, forward thinking hip-hop, garnering limitless critical accolades including the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, XXL, SPIN, New York Times, and many more. This super dynamic duo is set to release their next offering, RTJ2, on October 27 via Mass Appeal. Well known for their massively energetic live sets, they will be touring North America in support of the new album this fall on the Jewel Runner Tour.
Gangsta Boo
Gangsta Boo was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. An anomaly within the generally misogynist late-'90s Dirty South rap scene, Gangsta Boo won substantial acclaim among audiences without sacrificing her pride. As the sole female & an original member of Memphis, TN, hardcore rap group Three 6 Mafia, she had held her own; it wasn't until her debut album, though, that she really started garnering an unprecedented amount of attention.
Nick Hook
Nick Hook
Nick Hook is NYC's waviest resident: an in-demand collaborator, producer extraordinaire, and all around provider of vibes who's lent his touch to projects from Run The Jewels, A$AP Ferg, Hudson Mohawke, and countless others, all while building a creative community around his Space Pit studio in Greenpoint. Now the redheaded kingpin steps forward with his Relationships LP on Fool's Gold, a full album of collaborations that are unconventional, unexpected and all-the-way live (literally: each song was recorded in-person with Nick behind the boards, a refreshing move in the email verse era).
